Call for Authors

"Somebody ought to write a book about the way they used to ____." Have you ever found yourself saying that? And did you think that you know enough about it, but nobody would publish a book for such a small market?

Well, somebody would. Between Renaissance Faires, the Society for Creative Anachronism, and other venues for reenacting, the market for historical books is better than ever before. And if a small publisher can serve that market with books that are well-researched, well-written, and reasonably priced, both authors and publisher can thrive.

If you've always wanted to write a book, but weren't sure of your writing ability, that's all right. We can help you get there, from expert editing and guidance to ghost-writing or co-writing, we can offer as little or as much editorial help as you need. When your book is ready, we'll print it, promote it, and sell it.

And while nothing we can say here can accurately convey the feeling you'll get when you see your book, with your name on it, it certainly won't diminish your good feelings each time you get a check for books sold!

We are particularly looking for authors to write books on the following topics:

History:

  • On Progress with Queen Elizabeth
  • Common Professions and Trades of the Renaissance
  • Warfare 1550-1600: What Reenactors Should Know
  • Religion and the Church in Renaissance England
  • London 1580: Life in the City
  • Village and Manor Life

    Langauges:

  • Chaucer's English: Middle English for Reenactors
  • German for Historic Reenactors
  • Italian for Historic Reenactors
  • Scots Dialect for Historic Reenactors
  • American Accents and Dialects of the Confederacy in 1860
  • American Accents and Dialects of the North in 1860
  • Revolutionary English: American Dialects 1770-1790

    Arts and Crafts:

  • Woodworking for Historic Reenactors
  • Archery in European History
  • The Art of Rapier Fencing
  • Elizabethan Cookery
  • An Elizabethan Songbooke

Of course, none of those are written in stone, and we're not excluding other ideas. If we missed your specialty, that's OK -- let us know what you know, and we can talk. Click this link to Email us!

Before anyone asks: We are NOT interested in biographies of Queen Elizabeth I, King Henry VIII and his many wives, or William Shakespeare. Those fields are well filled already.
